So, in previous chapter you may have read the “Sukumāla Sutta (A Delicate Lifestyle)” in pali canon. In that sutta, The Samma Sambuddha explained how the blessed one noticed the second omen as a teen prince. How the “Second Sight of a sick being” changes the way of thinking about “sickness” of the wise prince. In there, the blessed one explains how wisely he observed his surrounding and what he realized from them. And also, it clearly explains the effect of the second omen.
The current misunderstood and twisted story says that the king Suddhodhana (father of Prince Siddhartha) kept every sick being out of the kingdom and not even a death is noticeable in the kingdom. This is a proof to show that Buddhist teachings are not easy as they seem. They are deep, and you can’t just jump in to the Pali canon and understand the core of Buddhism by reading them as it is! And also, this is again showing how things can be gone wrong when people like Channa the Charioteer explains the deep Buddhism after reading the scriptures. Only those does, aware of the second omen by experiencing it thorough their own wisdom, can give at least a deeper meaning than the common one.
