Ven. Welisara Jinawansha Tissa Thero is the Chief incumbent of Vehera Benda Kutiya Ancient Temple at Anuradhapura. He had re-established & re-developed this sacred place back to its old glorious days. For tremendous effort he has given to re-develop this hidden sacred land as well as the 4 surrounding villages, he has offered with the titles of “Asarana Sarana (the one who support for the needy)”. Every year in December the stress of getting the new school stationary list is natural for a family with a low income. No matter how hard they try, it’s getting impossible for them to please their kids with the best items for the new school year... But the temple become a blessings for them too...
Stupa for Village ...
It’s important to have a pagoda for the temple. Then why not have it in the same place where the ancient pagoda was? Ven. Tissa thero already begun the project of rebuilding the ancient pagoda again to bring the glorious history back to the temple.
It's not just for beauty...
Making ponds in this temple land is not only to increase the beauty of the landscape but it has a deeper aspiration too. By creating such ponds cause to enhance the drinking water in that area and protects bio diversity of the little forest area around the temple too.
