Busy by doing nothing!
February 2019 edition
Article summary
Christopher Robin is a 2018 American fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Marc Forster and written by Alex Ross Perry, Tom McCarthy, and Allison Schroeder, from a story by Greg Brooker and Mark Steven Johnson. The film is inspired by A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard's Winnie-the-Pooh books. You may have watched the film already as it is released in the August, 2018 and may have loved the dialogues which are well written with some philosophical touch to have a happy & peaceful life.
This editorial is all about the theme of the film and how it connects to the Purest Buddhism. “Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something - Winnie the Pooh” This is a quite popular quote among the spiritual people. And it is also identified as something related to Buddhism as well. In the movie it is nicely explained the meaning of this quote. But in here I will try to explain bit deeper and how this is actually presenting in Buddhism. I must say this is not a full explanation about this as it is indeed a deep quote than it seems to be. But in this web site, you will be able to find the real meaning throughout any of my explanation.
Ok! let me start like this, “Doing Nothing” often understood as just time passing with simple activities, like reading, looking at the ocean or sky, thinking or just trying to maintain a thought free mind etc… etc… this is what most of the people think when says “Doing nothing”. And many thinks this is what explain in Buddhism too.
So, some tries to stop what they do and find a peaceful place to stay by being busy with doing nothing. But if you noticed little deeper and wisely in to the facts here you will see “Doing nothing” in this method is actually doing something. Well, I must say this is well explained even in the movie too. At the end credit you can find this song which I thought quite amazing with its lyrics as follows.
“I am busy I'm busy, busy, busy doing nothing – Doing nothing, that's the life for me
For when I'm doing nothing, I'm busy doing something, Something that suits me to a tee
Because I'm busy, busy doing nothing - I find I never find the time to rest
Being busy doing nothing, I'm busy doing something - Doing nothing is the something I do best”
Isn’t it wonderfully written? Well, I thought so, coz that’s what I was trying to explain here.
But, I’m going to end this editorial with that song as the end note and please continue reading as in the next editorial, you can find out how this related to purest Buddhism!
Have a blessed time by doing nothing until you realize that you are doing something!
