Article summary
So in this editorial, let me share some valuable facts which you should look in to your own self & find out before you point fingers at others.
Nowadays it becomes a very common thing to point fingers at others and say you are wrong… your dhamma is wrong… your teaching is wrong etc… Samma Sambuddha never forgets to share some valuable advice to each day to day problems to solve them properly. These writings are based on the Sutta named "Kusinara Sutta" which is Anguttara Nikaya 6th book on the Sutta Pitaka, in Pali Canon.
Before you point fingers to others and say "You are wrong… or what you do, speak or think is wrong…" check these within your own self first…
- Check whether you have a complete discipline over your body. A discipline body means in simple words is a body which is not entitled with killing, stealing & adultery with the deep meaning on them (explore the deep meanings). If then only you can complain or point fingers to others and say "first you correct your behaviors towards others and discipline yourself".
- Check whether you have a complete discipline over your words. A discipline words means speak without false hood / lie, back bite / being a talebearer (tell someone's bad things or what they said to others when that person is not around…), harsh words/ churlish words and nonsense words / jabbering with the deep meaning on them (explore the deep meanings). If then only you can complain or point fingers to others and say "first you correct your words towards others and discipline yourself".
- Check whether you have a hatred / anger or conflicts towards the blessed ones / noble beings. Check whether your heart is filled with compassion / metta. If then only you can complain or point fingers to others and say "first you correct your compassion towards others & discipline yourself".
- Check whether you know & understood the dhamma properly. You should check the level of purity which you are in according to the dhamma and whether your view is corrected by dhamma. If then only you can complain or point fingers to others and say "first you correct your view and understand the dhamma and complete the dhamma within yourself".
- Check whether you have learn and completed the disciplinary rules given by Samma Sambuddha and the level of knowledge on the subject of discipline. If then only you can "ask the other person where did you learn these rules… from where this kind of discipline you learn…" and if the other person fails to answer then only you can ask them "first you learn rules & discipline first by yourself"
In simple words this tells that “first you become an enlighten being then point out the finger on others”.
